Man's Effect on Nature

Ms. Beseau, who lives in Lake St. Louis, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Washington University and two degrees from Lindenwood University, Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts. She recently retired from 25 years of teaching art for the Hazelwood School District, and now works fulltime in her studio.

“My most recent works focus on what I conceive to be man’s effect on nature,” said Ms. Beseau. “My marks represent the struggle between our human ideas or our impositions of morality. I often find myself thinking about the world we live in today and the choices that we make for what we think will be for the best of mankind. Virtue is long lost, and values are not always left sacred by individual choices in the politics world in which we live.”

Ms. Beseau’s approach reflects her intrigue with exploring surface textures and the reflection of light, and her preference for polychromatic color schemes and painting single, diptych and triptych canvases.

“I like working on a sequence of images that, when placed together, form one large visual connection,” she said. “I would like my artwork to be viewed as a collection of organic or geometric shapes placed on unfamiliar surfaces with layers of color to create depth within an abstracted composition.”
